About Kemal

I have an undergraduate background in math and statistics, professional experience in the financial sector, and am currently pursuing a graduate degree counseling psychology. This helps me share my knowledge in math with empathy and a developed understanding of our relationship to learning and teaching.

I've always had a love for math. I started tutoring my peers in high school and stayed in tutoring ever since. During college, I worked with academically struggling high school students, now I teach elementary and middle school math in underserved communities.

About the lesson

I've come to realize that rapport is a must in every relationship, including tutoring, which I look to achieve thorough empathy, geuniness and consistency. I believe that personal connection is important in any relationship, and I look to establish it with trust.

I believe that an intuitive understanding of each concepts is crucial for retaining knowledge and apply that knowledge to future learning.

Especially in math, I have witnessed in myself, peers and my students that learning follows a snowball pattern, the rewards of the understanding of one subject (or the cost of the lack of it) reveal themselves over time in future learning.

In awareness that students have limited timelines and deadlines for class assignments, I work to ensure my students effectively understand the knowledge of one topic before moving onto the next one.

Look for a person who is genuine, in addition to expertise in subject-matter. It is hard to learn from someone whom you're not really fond of or you feel like doesn't get you.
