About Carina
Hi! My name is Carina and I have loved math ever since I was a little girl. I have tutored at a math learning center for about a year, so I definitely have experience helping kids out. I am a rising third year at the University of Virginia studying Statistics and Economics. I know the transition to online classes was very hard for a lot of students in the spring, so I really wamted to be a resource for students who are being homeschooled or just need a supplemental resource. I plan to tutor online, but I am open to other ideas!
I really love helping kids! It was something that I looked forward to everyday when I tutored in high school. I'm a firm believer that there is nothing a student can't learn with the right teaching methods. I help students understand concepts versus memorization, something a lot of teachers in public schools do not have the time to focus on. Math has always been something that I love, so helping kids breathe a little easier when faced with Math is the most rewarding experience I've ever had.
I am studying Statistics and Economics and the University of Virginia with plans to become an Actuary in the near future. I have worked at a math learning center for a year where we were trained to facilitate the best learning experience for students K-12. I have taken the SAT (as of 2018), AP Calculus AB (5 out of 5) AP Calculus BC (5 out of 5), Pre-Calculus, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Algebra 1, receiving an A in all of these classes.

I would first like to have an hour long session where I can get to know the student and they can get to know me. If the student needs help with homework or help understanding a topic, I will also help them in the initial session. This first session will be free of charge.
