About Yuechen

I am a Civil Engineer that graduated from Old Dominion University in May 2020. I had a 3.6 GPA with my Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, while pursuing my Masters degree in Structural Engineering.

I really enjoy helping and teaching others about mathematics, because it is the basic foundations of any career.

I also believe in step-by-step teaching strategies and helping the student to understand the solution, instead of just providing the answers.

I mainly enjoy helping others working out a problem because I feel like I am learning in the process too.

I wanted to use my knowledge and help others so I started to teach online part-time. 



I have tutored Mandarin Chinese before for about over two years at my church, it was in a class room setting. The students ranged from age 6 to 11. 

I have also tutored on other tutoring websites such as Chegg and Varsity Tutors.

I would ask what is their goal for the course they are trying to achieve. 

Then find out what type of learning would help them understand the most. Whether it is more hands-on or solving practice problems, I can accomodate the student in any way.

I would solve the problem first then ask the student if they have any questions, if they dont, then I will ask them to complete a similar question on their own. 



I have worked with younger age students and even adults who are in community college. 



I recently helped an 8th grade girl with her personal narrative essay, and it was very enjoyable because she was a bright young girl who was an independent learner. She was also able to listen carefully as I give her advices and corrections.
