About Rachel

Hello! My name is Rachel, and I am an elementary school teacher! I have been teaching for the past 3 years. I have my Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy, as well as my ESL endorsement.

In literacy tutoring, I focus on phonics and engagement. I am OG trained and have tutored many students successfully.

In math, I am trained in AVMR levels 1 & 2. I tutor Prek-6th grade math skills.

I am a licensed PreK-6 teacher. I am currently teaching 5th grade, but have worked with K-6 in the past. I have a Masters of Education in Reading and Literacy, which licenses me to teach literacy through grade 12. I also have a certification in education for English as a Second Language.

I am OG trained and certified. I am AVMR trained.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I like to start out by getting to know the student: their interests, hobbies, etc. This information assists in planning lessons, as connecting the work with the student improves engagement and motivation. Then, I will conduct some pre-assessments (depending on the skill needed for tutoring) to determine the right spot to start teaching. This helps with targeted instruction, which will have the greatest positive impact on the student's growth.

I have worked with students from preschool through high school. In my teaching career, I have worked with hundreds of students that range in ability and background.
