About Alex
Hello! My name is Alex/Mr. Heap. I grew up in the area, and am thrilled to be teaching here! I have a passion for education, especially math. In my high school days, I often found I had a knack for communicating math concepts in more digestible and creative ways than what is available from most teachers. Several years later, as a teacher with years of experience, I have made this ability more public and developed, incorporating practical/real-world material into "boring ole math," making for an overall more enjoyable - and effective - learning experience.
Education:
Washington and Lee University - Bachelor's Degree
Major in Business; Minors in Data Science & Poverty Studies
Johns Hopkins University - Master's Degree
In Secondary Education, focus in Secondary Mathematics and Special Education
