About Charlena
I am an employee of Gaston County Schools and work as a Behavior Lab Specialist. I work with students from all aspects of life and who are also on different academic levels. I worked with the A.S.P.I.R.E summer program that offered STEM activities to students for 5 weeks. I taught the students how to think outside the box and to use their imagination.
I am a 2015 Graduate of Gaston College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have worked in childcare centers with infants to 5 year olds and I currently work with elementary students kindergarten- 5th grade.
I am a member of Gamma Beta Phi and also am currently working to join a few tutoring associations and attend a few siminars and conferences.

The first time I meet a student is me getting to know them and seeing where they are academically. I may ask for previous progress reports/ interims or report cards. I may also conduct an assesment myself. I ask the student what they feel most comfortable doing and what they are having trouble with. I get the parents input and opinion as well and ask them if there is anything specific that they would like for me to help their child with in order to gain a better understanding.
