About Sydney
Providing focused, one-on-one tutoring for grades 3-6 in the areas of Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. I’ve worked as a one-on-one in the school systems and have an active familiarity with the actual curriculum as well. I do my best to try to break down what the student needs help with to its most basic and core principles. This helps them to begin to work through it in a way that makes the process feel simple and covers concepts that the student may have not grasped before, which is causing them to fail at more advanced concepts. The best way to help kids struggling with school is to find where there are gaps in their overalll knowledge, fill those gaps with the proper information, and then help them learn to apply what they know with minimal anxiety, all of which I cover in my services.
I enjoy helping kids in the areas of Science and Social Studies, and especially Math, because I remember what it was like to fall behind in school and subsequently struggle with concept after concept in which I was missing the pieces to understand it properly. I like helping kids in those areas which I wish I had had help in, so they don't go on to struggle in those areas the same way and have to relearn those concepts later on (which can quickly become exhausting and discouraging for the student). I was always an honors student and remain a 4.0 student in college, so I've always had an understanding that certain concepts, despite my struggles, still came easier for me. I enjoy providing students who are struggling with new ways of looking at Math, Science, and Social Studies that are tailored to the way their brains work and help them succeed.
