About Kenneth

Ken Jarman turned his lifelong enjoyment of mathematical discovery and creativity into a PhD from the University of Colorado and a career at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for twenty years, where he worked with scientists and engineers to solve problems such as detecting, locating, and tracking radiological materials to help guard against the development and use of nuclear weapons. Ten years of teaching at Washington State University Tri-Cities while working at the laboratory surprised him with a passion for helping students excel in understanding mathematics and science. Ken brought it home, too: focused on understanding Calculus concepts he helped one of his daughters change a 3 on the AP Calculus test to a 5. In his free time, Ken enjoys challenges like dunking in icy cold rivers, long trail runs in the dark, and the GORUCK Tough.
