About Felicia
My goal is to help students continue to understand and be comfortable with mathematics.
Building relationships with students which allows them to feel comfortable about their true feelings about math. Helping them understand and seeing the light in their eyes when they understand and when I say the students are hungry for knowledge, I can not over exxagerate how they are! They love learning and I love tutoring/teaching them.
I am the type of person that will push, doesn't matter the background, because all children/students have the ability to learn, grasp and use information given. During my experiences as a teacher, I recognized that children do not learn the same. So that became a challenge for me to think outside of the box on many occasions. Being from 'old school' ways of learning doing math, I learned there is more than one way to get an answer and the ways are, for the most part, always proven in using different strategies.
Overall, I am just excited and willing to start helping and look forward to this new way (for me) of teaching. I can only imagine this is comparable to using an ELMO in the class room.
I have taught middle school math (2.5 years), high school math (3 yrs- A1,A2, Geometry) in Oakland, Ca
I have tutored middle school math and now an Instructional Specialist - Houston, Tx (will be 2 years, I am new to the Houston area)

Right now I do not.
I just saw an opportunity to help students during this season and looking at it as a win-win situation (keep me practicing as they continue to learn and practice).
Students should not be idle during this time of learning and like my own children, it is very difficult to have a support system in place if you are used to one to one in person or 30 to one. Now having everything on-line, for now, it's time to work this out so our children/students do not lose.
