When working with a new student, I think it is important to get to know them academically and personally to make them feel more comfortable. After getting to know them, I would like to hop right in to any questions they have or start going over the material they are struggling with.
I am new to tutoring but I am willing to work with anyone.
I think it is important for students to know that any question they may have is valid. There is no question too small or too large.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should try to go back to the basics and work their way through problems step by step. I think once they have done that but are still confused is when they should ask questions about the more basic concepts so we can work our way up to the more difficult ones.
