About Sherin

I am Sherin Sara Thomas. I have completed my Electrical and Electronics Engineering (passed with First Class).

I love taking up any opportunity to work with young children. I started tutoring from my school days. I believe a good teacher can make learning a good experience.I have worked with children in all capacity. I had the opportunity to work as Higher Level Teaching Assistant across the Maths and Science Department(academic year 2013-14) at The King's College, Guildford, UK.

I have also worked as a life skill trainer for a period of 2 years delivering a Leadership Training program for School students.

I worked at Growing Stars Inc as a Maths Consultant for grades 1-7 for two years (with over 33 sessions /week across ET, CT, and PT).

Methodology adopted: Differentiated Learning - tailoring instructions and using strategies to support students of all learning styles(VARK model).

Platform Used : Scribblar Online Board (no personal information divulged as the link sent to the student gives direct access to the classroom)

Skype/Whatsapp/ Zoom as medium to give instructions.

I once heard, if a student likes a teacher, he naturally tends to develop a liking to the subject too.

A teacher to me can transform the way a child perceives the new knowledge/skill that a child is expected to acquire.

An empathetic teacher can not just make learning fun but also meaningful. What then ensues is student ready for a life-long learning not limited by the boundaries set by the ever-changing education system.

I look forward to make that difference. To me teaching(rather the role of a mentor/guide) is my life's calling and every child an opportunity to a better tomorrow, an agent of change.

About the lesson

Firstly, a good chat with the parent (usually forthe younger lot) and student (middle and high school/ college) to understand and set expectations.

I would then send a year end assessment to understand the subject knowledge.

First session is free, so we would typically have a quick discussion on the assessment, followed by lesson session (topic of your choice). This would allow for the student to make decision on whether they are comfortable with the teaching style.

All the sessions with student is customised to suit the students learning style.

I teach with extensive course materials to ensure the student gets the maximum exposure to the topic taught.

Should my student need to be taught a certain textbook recommended by the school, I make the needful arrangement.

I have access to extensive teaching and practice material.

The student will be regularly assessed and the guardians updated on the progress.
