About Holly

I'm an individual with a strong background in math.

During my college years, I took very advanced math classes and maintained a 4.0 GPA and I was in the honor society.

I currently write math curriculum and help students from k-12. I grade lessons, provide support and help understand the step by step process by learning and figuring out the concept gaps. I primarily do the upper level math for high school courses when I write curriculum but I also help students in the lower grade levels as well.

I have worked with a variety of students! Those with special needs in ranging areas to gifted students. I can tutor comfortably up to trigonometry. I can tutor higher math but but I prefer to stay within k-12 studies.

I work with students on a daily basis and I understand that each student and learning style is different. I can understand by getting to know them how they effectively learn so that I can help.

mom happy to explain how to solve certain problems but I do not provide answers except for in my example problems as it find its best for the student to learn by seeing other examples.

I can help provide ways to work on certain math facts or the specific areas that your student or yourself struggle in. I can help create worksheets for practice when I see that it's necessary.

overall, I love math and understand the language of math very well as well as how to really bridge the learning gaps.

I love seeing that "lightbulb" just click when a student starts to understand! I love teaching and helping others to understand the concepts needed to excel.

Education is so important and I enjoy the opportunity to help make that difference and possibly have to opportunity to make such an impact to change lives for the better.

I began working for International Academy of Science. I also have children of my own that I teach. I have tutored 2 sisters in college and have helped many friends through college and nieces as well.
I create curriculums for math and create the questions and use ways to effectively help students understand all the material and concepts for each lesson. This may include creating instructional problems to begin with and then building upon those concepts taught.

In college I loved math so much that I just took advanced math courses and maintained a 4.0 GPA and I was in honors.
I work with students currently through a private online school where 95% of our work is used in public schools. We do offer homeschooling. I help these students everyday and I write the curriculum for many math courses. I also grade lessons and help students better understand how to do their assignments and look over scores and answers to see which concepts they are missing. That allows me to focus on that before moving forward so we can make sure to bridge any learning gaps.

About the lesson

First, I would like to learn about the student. What classes he/she has taken and how well he/she has done in past math.
I'd like to know if your student has any special needs but details are not required if you prefer to keep that private. Any triggers or information provided will help me with the learning style.

we will work on the gaps your student needs help in and I can create practice worksheets/games or ideas on how to work on these concepts when you have additional time.
I can help by providing virtual support and providing step by step instructions.

I currently work with a range of students. Those with Special needs to those who are gifted.
I have wrote problems for curriculums for special needs and advanced.
I have created both plus and minus mode questions, which basically means to help students who need a little more of an introductory lesson before the vital lesson taught to normal mode, and then to a very advanced mode for the mire advanced learning students.
I am very aware that even my special needs students are very smart but sometimes they can get frustrated when they don't understand a concept and it can create meltdowns. I am experienced in this area and know how to help ease this area and help them through the struggles.

My advice would be, you know yourself or your student best. Recognize the needs you might have or triggers. What is your biggest set back? This information is helpful for a tutor so we can know how to approach and where to begin.

I had a student who would message me daily just to say hello and ask for help. He was so sweet! But when he did not understand a concept he would get very upset and not want to work or just guess on all of the problems. I explained to him that we will get through this together. I let him know that I am here to help and I love doing it. I simply reassured him how smart he was and that we can get through this lesson. I explained that we all have to start somewhere and there will be times where learning something new is challenging.
He struggled with his negatives a lot. I made him a list of the rules for the negatives and we worked in memorizing it using some funny gestures!
In the end, he is an expert and has excelled! He has his negatives down and he knows I'm always here to still help. He thanked me and even told me he loved me. That is something I'll never forget. When you see that lightbulb turn on, you realize this is what makes it all worth it.

This will vary depending on time.

if I travel to your home to provide in home support, I will charge $125/hr.
for chat online support, I charge $30/hour and for video calls, I will charge $50/hour.
for 30 minute sessions it will be half priced, except when at home the sessions will need to be at least 1 hour.
for special lessons created to help your child that I create to work on, I would like sent back to be graded to see where your student is at. For each special assignment I create and grade, that is a $20 fee.
I am flexible in pricing some because I truly love doing what I do. So if you need a monthly plan we can try to work something out together in writing.
additional fees may be applied if other services are offered.
