About Lora

I am a current 4th grade teacher for Round Rock ISD. I have been teaching for 11 years and have taught 3rd and 4th grades. Throughout the course of my teaching career, I have earned certifications in EC-4, 4-8, Talented and Gifted, Special Education and English as a Second Language. I have also acquired a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. Teaching is my passion and I love helping students grow!

My 3rd-grade teacher was a huge influence on me! From that early age, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I earned my first degree and started teaching immediately. While working, I completed my second degree. I am about to enter my 12th year of teaching elementary school and I wouldn't change a thing!

I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in Education and more specifically, Curriculum and Instruction. I am certified in Texas for grades EC-4, 4-8, Special Education, Talented and Gifted, and ESL. Along with those certifications, I am a level 3 International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program educator.

About the lesson

I am new to this process so I am learning right along with you! As a teacher on summer vacation, my schedule is flexible so I can work when you need me. When working with a new student, I think that it is important to establish a relationship first. Knowing your interests helps me when creating problems. I use my knowledge and experience to then build a student-specific tutoring program.

I have worked with a variety of students. Those students have included ESL students, special education, talented and gifted, dyslexia and general education. I love them all and love working with all different types of students. Everyone is unique and teaches me at the same time!

The advice I would give is to look for someone that is interested in you as a person and not just you as a student. Knowing you as both a student and a person is very helpful in the long run when teaching you.

I recently had my first baby. While on maternity leave, I took him up to meet my class. To see the smiles on their faces to see me again, but to see my baby, warmed my heart. They were so curious about him and how we were doing. That is a memory I will keep forever!
