About Rachel

Hey, I ́m Rachel Brown and I would love to help you or your child with any math, health, english,etc problems they have. I enjoy watching and teaching students to their fullest capacity. I have been learning algebra for about 2 years now and this experience would further my education in algebra. I have always had straight A ́s in school and especially in math class. I am in a program called Principals of Biomedical Sciences and is a very intensive magnet program that helps further knowledge in medical terms (sickle cell, diabetes, etc.). I enjoy learning as I go and with the students. I love seeing where the students come from and how they need help. Helping others that are in need is some of my favorite work.

I started teaching when I had to teach my little sister in math and reading. I learned that I really enjoyed helping others out for the better. I also help my peers at school and others around me when they don´t understand something.

I am currently in high school in 9th grade. I am currently passing all my classes and have a 100% in math class. Being in high school will allow me know the types of equations right off the top of my head.

About the lesson

For a new stuent the first thing I want them to feel is comftorable with me. I personally know what its like to be the new student and how awkard it is and I don´t want any student to feel this way. I will help the student with my full energy and make them feel welcomed when they are around me.

I have worked with younger kids between the ages of 5-10 and I also have also worked with older people between the ages of 14-18. I have worked with a variety of people and ages.

Make sure you are ready to learn and have the right mindset walking into this. If you have a negative attitude it will be very difficult to teach you anything. Have an open mindset and we will have a great time!

I really enjoy solving any equations (1 step, 2 step, and so on) since those are like puzzles to me. I am really fond of any algebra problem since they are big puzzles to me and my brain.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student should know what their goals are when coming to a tutoring session. If a student doesnt knowwhat they want in a session I can not help them as well. The student should also make sure they have tried all possible equation before asking the teacher. The teacher cannot be doing all the work for the student.

I am very flexible on my pricing knowing that hard times come and go. I typically charge $30-$50 an hour since I am a high school student. If there are any concerns with paying please let me know and I can work with you.
