About McKenzie
Hey there! My name is McKenzie, I'm 17 years old, and I am currently a junior (11th grade) in high school. I started my business around March of this year. I started out helping my little cousins with homework. I found it to be really fun for me because not only was I able to help them, but it made me happy because I struggled in school for a very long time. I didn't really have anyone to help as I started to get older. So it's something I take a lot of pride in doing.
I really do enjoy tutoring. I've known for years that I've always wanted to be able to help people, but things like nurses or vet techs never really caught my eye. So once I started helping my family out, I knew that this is something I love to do. I get to help others, in my opinion, the best way possible. So many children struggle with school, and I know this because I was one of those kids. I know sometimes parents can be extremely busy with work, and taking care of multiple children, etc. And as you get older, they struggle to help you, especially when they were taught things a completely different way then what there taught now. It's extremely important to be able to get through school, and I don't ever want someone to feel as if they just simply can't do something. So I love to keep my clients motivated, and let them know you can do anything, as long as your willing to put in time and effort.

When I first start working with a new student, I like to get to know them. I have the child and there parent(s) fill out a questionnaire so I can learn more about the child. It will have questions like does the child enjoy reading, writing, listening, or hands on activities. I then go onto ask what they would like to achieve during the sessions and what are some areas that need to be focused on. After that process, I then give the child an age appropriate assessment to see what they know about that subject. I then come up with a personalized plan for the child to get them where they need to be. All of that will be done at home with the parents. When that entire process is finished I have my first meeting. During this first meeting I tend to focus on making the child comfortable. I want them to see that I am just an average person. There is no need for them to feel intimidated or uncomfortable around me. I try to talk a little about myself and how I can understand the struggles of school. Once we have finished that session we then start the tutoring process.
I usually work with children in grades K-8.

Details
My prices vary on the time of the sessions. A 30 minute session would be 25 dollars. A 45 minute session would be 40. A 60 minute session would be 50, and a 90 minute session is 70 dollars.
