About Melanie
I have been teaching for about 8 years! I've homeschooled my own children and taught in public schools for the last two years. I am certified to teach special education in grades K-12, preschool, and all subjects K-8. I believe that every child can learn! It's my joy to help children unlock their potential.
I love watching children "get it". I believe that they all can!
My mom is a teacher and so I grew up hearing and seeing my mom work. I have always loved working with children, including my own. Also, I love working in service and teaching is a natural fit for me. I serve my students and their parents by hopefully impacting them in a positive way.
I am a certified special education teacher, but I have experience teaching all subjects to regular Education students also. I am regular attending professional development and online classes to stay up to date on education and also learn new methods.

After I get to know my student and learn about their goals, I collect baseline data that shows me exactly where the student is. Then I develop a plan for the instruction that will help the student teach his or her goals.
I've worked with learning disabilities, including autism, dyslexia, adhd, developmental delays such as speech and cognitive. I've also worked with students of all ages.
Find someone that makes you want to learn! And who loves to teach !
The most recent event I attended was church. The Covid-19 pandemic has put a halt on events!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students need to have a clear picture of their goals. If they don't know what they are aiming for, it's hard to get there!
