About Lisa
I teach Chemistry part-time in the Lone Star College system, and I have taught and tutored junior high and high school math from Prealgebra to Precalculus as well as Life Science, Biology and Chemistry. I also have a Texas Secondary Education certificate in Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
I'll be happy to help with your issues with either Math, Biology, and/or Chemistry at a time and place that works best for you.
I enjoy working with students and seeing the joy when they finally understand a concept with which they have previously struggled.
My first job after college was working in aan environmental testing lab, which became rather repetitive very quickly. I went back to school to get my teaching certificate, after which I worked with a homeschooling center for two years, a private schoolschools, and a public school for about a year. I then went to graduate school to qualify for teaching at the community college level. I enjoy working with students, especially when I can work with them one-on-one or in a small group, which is not always possible in the classroom.

While my minor was not in Mathematics, I had to take math classes up to Calculus III for my degree. One can do math without science, but one cannot do science without math, especially the physical sciences.

About the lesson

I first talk to the parent and student to determine what he or she needs from the tutoring session, and I ask for the student to bring all needed class materials to the session. We then work with the information, and I have the student practice the skill or concept with the homework available. If the teacher does not provide enough practice problems, I will make up the practice problems or pull them from another source.
All kinds from 10 to 65, including students with learning difficulties.

Details
$25 per hour for individual studentsstudents, $45 per hour for groups of two students, $60 per hour for groups of three students. I will not work with a group of greater than three students so that I can give each student the individual attention he or she needs.
