About Mathew
Understanding math does have to always be one way or no way. I provide connections with math and my students’ interests to spark a personal need for it. I spend a small portion of my lessons so talk and get to know my students because the connection between student-tutor is a main key to achieving success. In addition, I keep a record of all work between students and myself for progress reports.

Bachelors of Arts, SUNY College at Potsdam, 2016
Masters of Arts, SUNY College at Potsdam, 2018
Ph.D Candidate, Binghamton University

The best feeling about tutoring is when I have, "Oh!" moments with my students. Sometimes it takes approaching a problem multiple ways to get that, "Oh!" However, when I do get it, that's when I tailor their specific approach to the current math course they are on. Then, that is when math becomes fun!

I get to know a new student before anything else. Understanding their background in math, their hobbies, and school life is most critical to me. Next, I approach similar questions that are troubling to the student and look for signs of which technique works best. Then I continually tutor while keeping the student engaged by referencing their hobbies and school life into math scenarios.
I have worked with students in Kindergarten, Middle School, High school (Public and Private) as well as Undergrad/Grad students during my Masters degree
