About Joie

As an IB student, I hold a great knowledge in the application of mathematics. I have a strong passion for mathematics and I am beyond willing to help others. I also have experience in 1-on-1 tutoring kids (K-12) in math, and helping people online would broaden my horizon. High school math classes that I have taken include IB SL Mathematics, IB HL Mathematics, along with IB SL Chemistry.

What I enjoy about math tutoring is that there are several subjects that students may need help with, and each student is different. Knowing that math is a diverse construct of education exhibits that preparing kids will build the pathway towards their future.

I found myself limited to tutoring others in school, as it is offered. Therefore, I decided to expand my experience and teach students outside of school at a tutoring center.

I took IB SL Mathematics I and II, along with IB HL Mathematics I. I am also experienced in completing college courses in Calculus I, II, and III, and have also taken elementary linear algebra. In addition, I have much experience in one-on-one training with students in math.

About the lesson

Before tutoring, I usually like to get familiar with a student, inquiring them about their strengths and weaknesses about certain subjects, and what they do and don't like. Once I am able to identify their criteria, I help them accomplish skills that they want to be familiar with, or want to be challenged with. As an experienced tutor, I am able to adapt to a certain student's learning ethic.

I have worked with students K-10, and they are typically challenged with algebraic problems.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
As a student myself, I think that students should mainly focus on what they can't do, than what they can do. Therefore, they should ask for different methods of approaching something, which could expand their knowledge.
