About Jean
Growing up, I was never academically inclined and always struggled to keep up. It was through the help of tutors that allowed me to gain confidence to eventually excel in school. I understand the importance of education and how it not only prepares individuals academically but personally as well, as being a well-rounded student can help to build confidence that overflows into one's personality.

When it finally clicks for students. I know how frustrating and even embarassing it can be when students don't understand concepts because I was in those shoes many times. It takes a lot to ask for help so it's such a confidence booster when you see students finally understand something!
It started off with family friends and eventually, I actively started seeking out students to tutor when I went to college.
I tutored throughout my undergraduate career in math and English for elementary and middle school students.

Building a relationship with them so we have trust with each other. This would include being a little informal in the beginning so I can also see what their personality is like. Then I would work through some of the homework/class studies and see what they respond well to.
International students, middle and elementary school students
Look for someone that won't just help you academically, but personally as well. A good teacher isn't one that just teaches you academics, but can help you personally too.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
- Do I have any solutions to my problems? (this would help students think critically and try to solve through their problems. The solutions don't need to be the best ones, but they should come with a few).
