About Aaron

I have been tutoring students in math since I was 15 years old, and I have over 20 years professional experience working with students in math from fractions to calculus. I have always felt like my ability to understand complex problems was more fun to share than to keep to myself.

I have been tutoring professionally since I was in High School, working with 10 - 12 students a week. In college I ran the physics tutoring program to help the non science and engineering degree students. I also tutored the SDSU athletes in both science and math.

Shortly after graduating with a degree in Physics from SDSU, I started working at High Tech High as an Academic Mentor, working with High School Students in both Math, Physics and students with learning challenges or IEP students. I have always enjoyed sharing my love for mathmatics and inspiring kids to challenge their own ways of thinking!

I am currently working as a project engineer in the silicon valley. I am passionate about photography and videography and here is a little collection of my free lance work.

I love helping people see their own unique talents, and to gain a new appreciation for learning! I have been helping people find the fun in math for over 20 years!

By helping my fellow students, I always found that I finished first in most of my math classes and I always just loved to help everyone else out!

I have a Bachelor of Sciences in Physics. I have tutored and organized study groups to help teach students since I was 10 years old. I have always loved teaching!

Have a conversation with the student, understand exactly where they are with each topic and lesson. Identify their learning styles, their interest points, and the parts of each topic that they doing well with and also need a little more work on.

Create explaination thats specific for each student, working in examples about topics or ideas they are more familiuar with and also are excited about.

From the most gifted to the students that have IEP's... That was my focus at HTHMA, working with students that had learning challenges, to create solutions and maximize excitement for learning!

Put together all your past tests, all your past homework assignments, and find the 3 most challenging topics. Understand where there might be similarities and see if you can start from the begining to understand what went wrong.

I have been workin a lot with the local Park Council, and the city had passed an emergcy permit to bulldoze and excovate a portion of the park. I felt very sadened by this because it was a beautiful portion of the park. I started emailing local city officials, local land commissions, and a local non profit that protects ocean landscapes. By educating everyone about the problem at hand, the work that was going to be done, and the proper proceedures the city should have gone through, we were able to put a 80% reduction to their overall scope of excevation of the cliff side.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
When looking at the questions that you dont understand, is there a similar technique or task being asked of you? This is honestly what defines a great teacher, some one that can look at a problem and ask the student great questions.

If its Middle School Math and below I charge 40 - 35 and hour, once I get into High School math I like to Charge $45 - $50. The student is far more set in their ways of learning, and if there are missing pieces in their mathmatics skills it is much harder to find them.
