About Philippe

I am passionate about math but even more about the students I tutor!

Having tutored many students over the years and with an Engineer training, my students (and their parents) like the way I link the math subject to real life applications. This helps make an abstract subject become real which increases the interest of the student.

Also as a professional troubleshooter, I work with the student to understand where the challenges are and will approach the challenging topic from several directions until it is well understood and learned.

In short, I spend the time with the student that the teacher / professor does not have within a multi student class.

I have a Baccalaureat (France) in Math/science with an AS in Math from Canada College and an EE degree from Santa Clara University.

About the lesson

Here are the steps that have worked in the past. But keep in mind that every student is different:

1.Talk to the parents. Understand the expectations and set a session with the student.

2. Meet the student. Spend a session understanding what his current challenges are and working with him on his current homeworl.

3. Get a copy of the returned homework, teacher handouts and student notes and upcoming math subject to be covered.

4. Work with parents and student to create a plan and improvement goal.

5. Implement plan with changes as necessary. Including having the student's increase in confidence and enjoyment of math.
