About Erin
Hello! I am a high school math teacher in Missouri. I have been teaching math for 19 years and was selected as my district’s Teacher of the Year 24-25. I have a BS in Mathematics with a minor in Spanish, an MA in Math Curriculum and Instruction, and an MS in Mathematics. I have taught everything from 7th grade math to college courses as an adjunct professor.
I have always had a knack for breaking down difficult concepts on a way that is easy to understand. I believe in understanding concepts rather than simply memorizing procedures. It is my view that understand the “why” makes it easier to remember the “how.”
Since I minored in Spanish, I can also help with introductory Spanish. I always did well in Spanish because I saw it as a formula. I often created pneumonic devices, rhymes, or songs to help me remover vocabulary and structure rules.
As a tutor, I believe that my job is not simply to help a student get their assignments done, while that is part of it. I believe that my role is also to help my learner study and understand independently so they can demonstrate their knowledge on their own.
