About Burt
I can do online tutoring on Zoom, or in person tutoring within 10 miles of Pleasanton, CA. I have over 25 years teaching and tutoring high school and college students up through AP Calculus. I currently teach at Foothill High School and Las Positas College. When teaching large high school calculus classes, over 90% of my students pass the AP test, most with a score of 5. When tutoring one-on-one, 100% of my students pass the AP test. I also regularly tutor students in Geometry, Algebra II and Precalculus.
I love helping students understand math. I have a knack for making difficult topics seem much simpler and I enjoy using that talent every opportunity I get. In-person tutoring is $90 per hour at your home or at the Pleasanton Library or the Dublin Library. Online tutoring is $80 per hour.
I have a bachelor's degree and master's degree in Mathematics and Math Education. I also have over 25 years experience as a public school math teacher and 20 years experience as a private and small group tutor.

During a the first few tutoring sessions, I let the student tell me what topics they need the most help on. I find out if their teacher has a website listing assignments or a course calendar so I can see what topics have been covered and where they plan to go next. If available, it is also helpful to see previous tests that the student has taken so I can see what kinds of errors the student is making.
