About Catherine

I love the relief and joy on a student's face when they finally grasp a concept they've been struggling with. The resulting confidence a student experiences is lasting and often has a profound effect on their attitudes toward school and facing challenges. I believe a growth mindset make the difference between success or frustration.

I enjoy helping students who need a little more support or who want an extra challenge. I create and curate materials specifically designed to meet the learning needs and goals of each student. No cookie cutter worksheet packets here. Every session is intentionally planned with your child in mind, building upon their strengths and addressing areas of growth. I provide feedback after every session. I also provide a free consultation so we can determine if my skill set is a good fit for your child's learning needs.

I have been teaching public school in Oregon for 25 years. I have taught all grades, 1-6. As a highly qualified elementary school teacher, I am skilled in helping students build the knowledge and study habits they will need for success in middle school high school and beyond.

I like to meet with the parents and student first to discuss goals. This is a free 20-30 minute consultation. I prefer to meet in a public setting such as a local library. At this meeting, we discuss goals for the student, schedule, pricing, and my policies. Depending on the type of instruction that is being requested I may or may not suggest a session or two of diagnostic assessments in order to determine the student's skills in various areas. The cost of these assessments ($25 each) is in addition to the tutoring fee.
