About DERRICK

I’m a dedicated math and programming tutor who loves helping students discover the fun side of problem-solving. My background in both mathematics and coding allows me to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications, so you can see exactly why a formula or algorithm matters. I believe in an interactive, step-by-step teaching style that makes even the toughest topics feel more approachable. While studying for the SAT, I could explain complex concepts to my fellow students. I could relate mathematical equations to real-world scenarios, making it easier for my peers to understand.

I'm currently a college student studying computer science.

About the lesson

I first send out a survey to understand the student's experience with mathematics. Through this, I get to know the student's strengths and weaknesses and ways he/she would like to improve.

I have worked primarily with K-12 students.

I think students must look out for teachers with excellent communication skills inside and outside the classroom. Again, they should also look out for flexible teachers who can adapt to changes without frustration.

I recently traveled to Acadia National Park with a group of friends, and it was an excellent experience. We visited the Johnson Pond, went to shop at the bar harbor, and went on a hike. I had the opportunity to interact with nature very well.
