About Amanda
I take much pride in my work. I am determined to motivate children and get them to where there need to be, both academically and socially. When working with children, I love learning about their interests, incorporating those things into the work we do.
What I enjoy most about my work is the accomplishments my students achieve. Seeing smiles on their faces after mastering a task that was once difficult for them gives me joy.
I have always had a love for children. Coming from a large family, surrounded by children, it has become a passion of mine to help them exceed expectations.
I have been a paraprofessional for over 6yrs. I am currently obtaining a degree in childhood education. I am also trained in the Orton-Gillingham Reading Program and Reading Reform Program. Both programs are phonics based will high levels of improving a child's reading skills.

My initial session with a new student will allow me to assess their knowledge of basic letter recognition, sounds, and sight words. For students in grade 2 or higher, I start with assessing his/her reading level.
I have worked with both the gen ed and special ed populations. More closely, I have worked with children on the spectrum.
