About Amy
First off, I should say that I absolutely love math! I majored in interdisciplinary studies at Stephen F. Austin State University with a specialization in math. I've taught middle school math for 4 years with Austin ISD, both inclusion as well as Pre-AP. I pride myself on differentiating instruction for student’s needs and developing easy to remember strategies to use to solve problems. I also like to focus on how objectives will be tested on a state and local level.
I enjoy seeing students celebrate their success and become more confident in their abilities. They should leave lessons feeling empowered and in charge of their education.
I majored in interdisciplinary studies in college with a specialization in 4th-8th grade math. I have taught middle school math for 4 years with Austin ISD.

I would like to do a pre-assessment to assess where the child is at academically. However, if there are already known areas of concerns we can skip the assessment and go straight into those objectives.
Also, if your child has any type of IEP with the distrcit I would need to know what accomodations they recieve so we can continue those practices throughout the summer.
I have around 90 students every year and have worked with Special Education students as well as Pre-AP. I have worked with many students with different learning styles and feel very confident in differentiating to the student's needs.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The students should think about what makes them successful and share that with their tutor. For example, think of a class you really enjoyed and did well in and think of reasons why you were successful. Was it something the teacher did? Was it how the lessons were presented? Was it group and/or independent work? Don't be afraid to share with your teacher what you need to be successful.

Details
Cost depends on the distance traveled as well as the level of the math.
Elementary math- $30/hour
Intermediate level (middle school courses)- $40/hour
Upper level math (high school and college)- $50/hour
***If you are more than 10 miles away add $10 to each rate. However, I am more than happy to meet in a public place (library, park, coffee shop, etc.) to stay within the 10 mile range.
