About Brandon

I take a patient approach to helping to understand a student's strengths and weaknesses in math while helping them to understand the full scope of a problem.

My inspiration has always been my father. He is skilled and takes the time to help you to understand how to solve a problem. I'll never forget how dumbfounded I was the day he showed me that you could subtract a bigger number from a smaller one. I want to inspire that sense of wonder and discovery in intellectually curious students.

My interest in math carried through from a young age. From as early as elementary school, I enjoyed it because it has structure, but the paths are endless. In middle and high school, my love for math pushed me outside the classroom into competition math, so I have experience with multiple areas. My time teaching younger students at LEARN also helped my patient approach with as a tutor.

About the lesson

1) Look at their problems from homework, textbooks, and past or practice tests

2) Keep a daily log of each interaction to see where their strengths and weaknesses are

3) Work to maintain/build the strengths and improve the weaknesses

4) Help them gain independence by enjoying the course material a bit better

Mainly elementary school students within the LEARN program and Harlem Academy

This whole experience is about you, so please be confident in helping me to understand how I can best serve you.
