About Charles

My tutoring students see their grades improve. I've been teaching math for 14 years now from eighth grade all the way through 12th grade math. I am now in my 10th year of teaching high school math.

I really like seeing students progress and gain confidence were they did not have confidence before.

I transitioned into public school teaching from a career where I was teaching adults. I always was good in math and so math was a great fit.

I'm a certified high school and middle school math teacher in the state of Texas and have been since 2011 and I have a bachelor's degree from Baylor University.

About the lesson

I first ask what is the most pressing thing that they want to look at. And then once I determined that then find out where they are strong and where they are weak.

I have worked with all levels of high school students as well as 8th graders and I have worked with Math students and one year with computer science students.

I would advise looking for someone that you feel like you can communicate with and feel comfortable with. And also ask them about the kinds of classes or students they have taught before. Look for someone who may have taught people who are somewhat similar to you and your situation.

Last semester I was teaching a student who was really struggling with geometry. In fact that she got very far behind. So I spent extra time working with her and assuring her that she could do the material. She started working and did well in the class.
