About Jenna
I really enjoy teaching, and want to make sure my students have the best possible experience. This means that I will find ways to work with my student, and adapt my teaching methods to fit them as much as possible. I explain topics in many different ways to suit each student and thier own learning patterns.
I love the moment when a student pefectly grasps a difficult subject, who you can tell that after minutes of struggling they understand it and can apply it. It opens up thier world, and it creates a love of learning.
I first became interested in teaching after volunteering with the Chicago Botanic Gardens Butterfly Exhibit, in which I tauht patrons about the exhibit and butterfly biology. Since then, I have enjoyed working as a tutor and a student tutor.
I have worked as a math tutor through the Mathnasium, teaching supplementary math to students ages 5-13. I am currently training through the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Education to learn the Hungarian Approach to teachind math, based on 'productive stuggle.'

First I assess where the student is at, what thier background is, and the areas they they have struggled in. I like to get to know my students so I can work with any circumstances that may be affecting their performance, and tialor my lessons to them.
My main experience has been with youth students, and I have some experience working with college-ages peers.
