About Naomi

I love math and I love teaching math! I infuse that love of math to my students. I tutor 8th grade through college level acedemic math, ACT, SAT, SAT math subject tests, and AP Calculus. My goal is to build my student's confidence in their ability to figure out math problems. I break down the solutions into clear and simple steps, so that my student can understand and apply these steps to other math problems.

I was an actuary in my early career, but then I decided to stay home and raise my 3 girls. Once they were in high school I decided to go back to school to become a math teacher because I truly love math and teaching. I soon realized that working one on one with students is my passion, so I started my own tutoring business.

I have my master of arts from Manhattanville College in teaching math to grades 5-12 . I am NY state certified for teaching grades 5-12.

About the lesson

My first priority is to make a new student feel comfortable with me. I want them to know they can ask me anything, be it about math or anything else. I observe my students and I give them time to work out problems so I get a sense as to where they are in their math abilities. I meet them where they are at.

I have worked with honors students, students with learning disabilities, students with test anxiety, and students that hate math (but that was because they thought they were bad at math).
