About Nicole
Teaching has always been an interest to me. Once I got to college, it was a matter of figuring out what I wanted to teach. I always knew I wanted to teach older students, just wasn't sure of the subject yet. Some of my favorite teachers always inspired my learning. It wasn't until I took a college math class, that I became inspired again by my teacher and decided that math was where I wanted to be. I hope to provide the same inspiration for one of my students some day.

It's important that I first get to know the student outside of the academics. I like to learn about them, their lifestyles, interests, hobbies, etc. in order to best meet their needs to make the learning meaningful to them.
I have worked with students in grades 6-8 of all academic abilities. I have tought lower level and honors math classes at the middle school level. Within this experience, I have taught students with a wide range of social and emotional issues. I understand the impact these issues can have on academics. I pride myself with having patience and understanding in order to meet each students needs.
I would first do a meet-n-greet. Having a connection with your teacher/tutor is important. Do a trial session to see if you like your tutor. Is this someone you can see yourself engaging with? I would also find out what their teaching style is and how they plan to challenge you and help you grow as a learner.
