About Michelle
From a young age, I have always loved working with kids and teenagers, especially when it comes to overcoming their academic difficulties. Currently, I am studying Neuroscience at UCL, after finishing my A levels at the Henrietta Barnett School, where I achieved an A*AA in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. I also did AS further Mathematics (in which I was predicted an A*) which allowed me to gain a deeper understanding in some of the pure maths topics. In addition, I achieved eight 9s and two 8s in my GCSEs therefore I believe I have the adequate knowledge and exam techniques to help GCSE students to reach their ideal grade.
I have been doing private tuition in maths and science since the age of 16. Volunteering at a local primary school allowed me to learn how to keep children engaged and eager to learn. Furthermore, I worked as a TA at a Saturday school and also worked part-time at Kumon (Maths and English tuition organisation).

I tend to tailor my approach to the student’s needs. However, for secondary school students, I usually devote the majority of the time going through exam questions and techniques as well as addressing any gaps in the student’s knowledge. For primary school students, I try my best to evoke an interest in the subject and make sure that they are confident in the foundations of maths. In general, I like to focus more on problem solving and make students think for themselves rather than just memorising rigid methods and formulas without understanding them.
