About SoundCheck

SoundCheck Music School is owned by recording artist and finalist of the hit TV Show "The Voice" of Greece, Electra Barakos and professional touring drummer and educator, Dan Welby.

"It has been a goal for both of us to be able to own our own music school and be able to share our love and passion for music with aspiring talent. While working through other schools, we have noticed what we like and what we don't like about them. We've thought about what those schools are missing and how we want to fill in the gaps to provide a more complete music and performance education.

SoundCheck is ready to help anyone, whether they are trying to become a working professional or a serious hobbyist. What we offer is a fun and rewarding environment so regardless of what your goals are, we can help you meet them."

Our school offers quality private lessons in Vocals, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums and Saxaphone to anyone who wishes to explore their musical talent and take it to the next level.

Open to all ages, styles, and levels, all lessons are taught by professional touring musicians and recording artists. SoundCheck Music School is your preparation for the real world of music and performance.

With multiple live shows a year, and a rock band performance based program SoundCheck Music School gives the Ultimate Rockstar Experience!

The best part of the whole process is the live show!! We work so hard preparing all the students for their songs and when all that work finally comes out at the performance, it is one of the best feelings ever! The process of getting there is very exciting too, seeing the improvement each week, learning cool new little things about the songs being learned. But in the end, it's the live show that makes it all worth it!!

Teachers at SoundCheck Music School have diverse backgrounds and education in music. All of our teachers are active working professionals in the field they teach, bring into the lessons, wisdom from the real world of music.

About the lesson

Every lesson is tailored and suited to the goals of each student. The teacher will customize each lesson according to the students level, and goals. So regardless whether they are a begnniner or advanced the teacher will plan accordingly and provide a lesson that will help the student acheive their goals faster and more efficiently and also have fun while doing it!

We work with all ages and abilities. Although, it's safe to say a child should be at least 3 and a half before we try a lesson. At that age it may be determined they are too young and we would encourage them to try again in about a year.

There is no age limit and it's never too late!!

There are lots of musicians in LA who also like to call them selves music educators but lack the experience and specialty that comes with being a private music instructor. All of our teachers. We are proud to have proffesional musicians who are also proffesional music educators with many years of teaching experience. Just come try one lesson, and if you like it, let's get started with your musical journey.

We are big advocates of live performance and ensure that all of our students have performance opportunities. We also feature a live band performance program for those who are ready to take their inner rockstar to the next level! We host a min of 3 student live shows at various venues, including but not limited to Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas, Westlake Brewing in Westlake Village, Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood and many more.
