About Juliet
My name is Juliet Levy, I am currently pursuing a MA in Musicology at University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, and I am gifted in both Music History and Music Theory. I am also a Graduate Teaching Assistant there, assisting students in their Musicology courses and running programming for Friday classes to supplement the professor's curriculum. In May 2018 I graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Music from Kenyon College. I passed my Senior Comprehensive Exercise and Exam with distinction, I am a skilled classical vocalist, and I am excellent at music theory and tutoring. After scoring a 5 on the AP Music Theory exam in high school, I went on to college, where my professors took notice of my outstanding theory skills and recommended that I tutor other students. I did this for three years, and even coordinated it my senior year. I have worked with kids for even longer than I have been tutoring, as I spent 5 years working with kids at a sleepaway summer camp. I love working with kids and I am very passionate about helping them succeed in this subject which I enjoy so much. As a Music Theory Tutor, I will guide students through the building blocks of music theory and help them acquire the skills and knowledge they need to be able to tackle almost any task in the subject. I am also able to help students with sightsinging and any other skills they need for the AP Music Theory exam.

I enjoy passing on my expertise and I love working with kids. I want to make others as excited about the subject material as I am.
I am currently a Musicology Master's student at DU and assist Musicology professors as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for their undergraduate courses. I majored in Music at Kenyon College, I have worked with kids at summer camps since summer 2013, I tutored my fellow Kenyon students from 2015-2018, I acted as music director for two a cappella groups from 2016-2018, I took AP Music theory in high school and earned a 5, I have tutored privately with music theory before, I am a trained classical vocalist, I have participated in many choirs, I have taken voice lessons.

Gauge how much experience they have in music theory by asking questions and having them demonstrate knowledge. Start at whatever level they are at, always with a friendly attitude, of course.
For music theory, I've worked with students in high school preparing for AP Music Theory, college students with little to no experience in the subject who were taking intro classes, and college students who had more experience and needed help with more intermediate or advanced courses.
It never hurts to have someone there to check your homework and understanding of the subject. Music theory is a complicated, confusing, and, at times, tedious subject, but it can be fun once you find your way.
