About Philip

My teaching approach: HOLISTIC APPROACH IS USED. EACH STUDENT IS AN INDIVIDUAL AND THE LESSON IS MOST OFTEN STUDENT DRIVEN. I WILL STRESS BASICS SKILL SETS BUT STUDENT NEEDS COME FIRST. SO IF YOU NEED TO LEARN A NEW SONG ON IMPULSE, I'LL TEACH IT...WHATEVER IT MAY BE

Levels taught: Intermediate

Music Styles: Rock Guitar, Blues Guitar, Folk Guitar, Country Guitar, R & B Guitar, Classical Guitar, Pop Guitar, Jazz Guitar, Christian/Gospel Guitar

Instrument Types: Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, Electric Bass

My influences are: BEATLES, JEFF BECK, JS BACH, M GIULIANI, CARCASSI, ANDREW YORK, WES MONTGOMERY

Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Slide Guitar, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Guidance In Equipment Selection

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: I AM AN EXCELLENT JUDGE OF MUSICAL ABILITY AND AN EXCELLENT LISTENER. IN A FIRST LESSON I REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHY SOMEONE WANTS TO PLAY GUITAR.THIS WILL BE THE STUDENTS MOTIVATING FORCE TO PRACTICE AND LEARN MORE. ONE MORE THING, PRACTICING IS OPTIONAL! I DO NOT AND CAN NOT FORCE SOMEONE TO PRACTICE,,,IT MUST COME FROM WITHIN!

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: WHAT I TERM A HOLISTIC APPROACH IS WHAT WORKS FOR ME. SIMPLY STATED, THE APPROACH INVOLVES THE ENTIRE STUDENT'S LIFESTYLE, OTHER GOALS AND DESIRES AND I WILL USUALLY FIND A COMMONALITY SOMEWHERE AND THE GUITAR CAN BECOME THE GLUE THAT HOLDS MANY THINGS TOGETHER.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: ONE WHO IS ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT LEARNING AND IS ORGANIZED. BABY BOOMERS ARE MY SPECIALTY. MANY WHO HAVE PURSUED CAREERS AND ARE WINDING DOWN WANT TO PLAY GUITAR BUT THINK THEY ARE TOO OLD! NONSENSE CALL ME!!
