About Anahid

My name is Anahid Gregorian, I am a freelance oboist and experienced teacher in the Baltimore area. I currently perform as Principal Oboe with Concert Artists of Baltimore, as well as several other regional ensembles. Previously to that, I spent three years as Co-Principal Oboe of a professional orchestra in Osaka, Japan. I have studied under leading oboists including Eugene Izotov (Principal Oboe, San Francisco Symphony), Alex Klein (Principal Oboist, Chicago Symphony Orchestra), and Robert Walters (English Horn, Cleveland Orchestra). All of my students play on professionally handmade reeds crafted by myself, which gives them a huge advantage from the start. I am able to adjust the reeds based on the student's skill level and preferences. I offer a free trial lesson!

I have two degrees in oboe performance. I obtained my Master of Music degree in Chicago at DePaul University where I studied with Eugene Izotov, and my Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where I studied with Robert Walters and Alex Klein.

About the lesson

Lessons are tailored toward each individual student and their goals. Technique is paired with artistry and musicianship in every lesson. For beginners, I like to focus on proper embouchure placement, posture, breathing techniques, reed care and maintenance, and basic scales. Etudes, solo music, and scale exercises are selected based on the student's level.

Details

For beginner and intermediate students, I recommend a 45 minute weekly lesson for $35, which includes two reeds a month. Additional reeds are available to my students for $12 each.
