About Neha

I am an experienced and dedicated Science teacher with over 9 years of teaching experience across secondary and post-secondary levels. My professional background combines a strong foundation in Chemistry and Education with a passion for helping students achieve their full potential.

I hold a PGCE from the University of Birmingham, QTS certification, and have completed my ECT. I also earned an M.A. in Education (Science) from University College London (UCL), an M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry, and a B.Sc. in Chemistry with Honours in Zoology.

My experience spans classroom teaching, private tutoring, and student mentoring, with expertise in lesson planning, classroom management, and curriculum design. I am also skilled in resource development, educational training, and administrative coordination.

In addition to my teaching background, I have worked as a Research Assistant in Nano-sciences, and will soon be pursuing further research at UCL. During this time, I am offering personalized coaching for students in Chemistry (KS3–KS5) who are seeking academic support or enrichment.

I strive to make science engaging, accessible, and relevant—helping students build confidence, curiosity, and mastery in the subject.

My preferred teaching methods emphasize problem-solving, critical thinking, and rational inquiry. I employ a flexible pedagogy, blending flipped classroom approaches for some topics with conventional didactic instruction when appropriate. This allows me to adapt to the diverse learning styles and needs of my students, ensuring that each learner can engage meaningfully with the content.

At the heart of my philosophy is a commitment to equity in education. I see equity not only as a moral imperative but also as a practical necessity for creating a just society. While equality provides the same resources to every student, equity ensures that every student receives what they need to thrive. Research from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF, 2022) underscores that targeted teaching strategies and well-designed interventions can close attainment gaps for disadvantaged learners, SEND students, and EAL pupils.

In practice, this means carefully scaffolding content, employing adaptive technology, and designing differentiated pathways to mastery. Every student is supported to access the curriculum at a level that challenges and inspires them. But my approach goes beyond differentiation: I cultivate a classroom culture of shared responsibility and peer collaboration, encouraging students to act as mentors, collaborative partners, and advocates for inclusivity. This aligns with the principles of Universal Design for Learning (CAST, 2018), which promote flexible learning environments that benefit all learners.

Through structured dialogue, group work, and empathy-building exercises, students learn to value diversity as a source of strength rather than a challenge. Inclusion is framed not as a “gift” extended to some, but as a shared responsibility that enriches the entire community.

Ultimately, my vision is to transform access into agency: equipping students with not only the knowledge and skills to succeed academically, but also the character, social awareness, and ethical grounding to use their education to contribute to a more equitable and inclusive world.
