About Gonzalo
I am History graduate from UCL with four years of tutoring experience. Throughout my degree I have mostly specialised in what is called ‘intellectual history’—in other words, (history of) philosophy done by historians. I have an extensive knowledge of Ancient philosohy (Greek and Roman), but I have also worked very closely with Renaissance texts as well as 19th- and 20th-century authors. I am very passionate about philosohy, and in my own time I also read and study many of these texts. So, if you’re interested or need to learn anything from Plato to Camus, I got you!

Philosophy can sometimes seem like a complex, high-minded subject. But this is far from the truth. Philosophy is a fascinating, even life-changing field, and I want to help you see it this way. If you’re a student, I can help you with a school-oriented approach (that is, thinking of course of your schoo curriculum). However, I will try my best to make philosophy accesible to you, not so much helping you to memorise, but rather to easily understand what it is you’re studying. My lessons, nevertheless, are notjust for students. Philosophy has no age (or curriculum), and if you are just curious about learning I can help you initiate and navigate this incredible world! I will always give you a general overview of the topics and authors you need/want —always relying on the rigorous and expert research of scholars. But, ultimately, my aim for you is to read extracts from these texts so that you can understand them first hand.

Even though may I not be an expert in the field of teaching and tutoring, I hope my words may serve as an honest view of how helpful and beneficial can be to have Gonzalo as a support for learning philosophy or history. I definitely recommend Gonzalo as a tutor, first of all because of the values that any student - or person that meet him - would surely learn from him. His approach towards what he has dedicated to academically throughout the last years is immaculate, with an strong sense of discipline, curiosity and passion, and that three assets would be of great importance for any student to success.
Apart from that, I can not only assure that he would be of great help for any kind of student, but also that he would make lessons in a light and dynamic way, which in my opinion is essential in order to catch the attention of the students and get to immerse them in the subject.
As a former classmate and forever friend of Gonzalo, I genuinely back him as a bright, passionate teacher.Gonzalo is a trustworthy tutor for three reasons. Firstly, he is someone who is very passionate. He is particularly passionate about knowledge and culture- always immersing himself in experiences and reading. This is a valuable trait for tutoring as his passion for knowledge will shine through his teaching and consequently, help motivate the student. The worst thing for a developing student is a teacher that does not care about what he is saying - and Gonzalo is one that does care. Secondly, Gonzalo is a patient individual. Having had experience in basketball training younger children, he has learned how to be flexible and adaptive to different types of children - making him resilient in stress and patient under pressure. Lastly, he is organised. Perhaps seen as a lesser quality to the two previously mentioned, organisation is still crucial in helping a student grow as a learner. Having witnessed him through university the last two years and additionally now, post university, I can confirm that his is always on top of his work. He prioritises his work over most things as this is what drives him and what he is passionate about. This allows him to work ahead and be prepared for whatever comes. My word may not count for much, but I can assure anyone, that Gonzalo is a reliable and hard working person - he would be a great asset to any student.
