About Kim

A veteran singer, TV and film actor, Kim Yarbrough captivated TV audiences the world over during her splash as a finalist on Season 2 of NBC's "THE VOICE". Adam Levine & Christina Aguilera consistently pronounced her as a “Powerhouse” and "Force to be Reckoned With."

Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Kim has enjoyed a dream career performing alongside legends and icons in music, film TV and stage in Los Angeles since the year 2000.

Kim is a classically trained vocalist and has over 20 years' professional experience singing in all styles from R&B to Pop, and from Broadway to Blues. Her post-secondary study and specialties are in the areas of voice, theater and violin performance & education. Kim has vocal coached several Disney and Nickelodeon child stars, and her students have also gone on to book leading roles in "Annie Get Your Gun", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Cats" and "Les Mis". She she has also successfully coached students as budding song writers and recording artists.

A working professional singer for more than 2 decades, Kim has performed and toured throughout the United States and France. She continues to perform and sing for all types and sizes of audiences, whether on stage or in film.

She has been vocal coaching for over 25 years and believes in a 360 degree music education with her students. She not only teaches them to have a command of their vocal instrument and be excellent singers, but her instruction also covers music theory, phrasing, ear training, reading music, and performance practice. No matter the age range, handling themselves confidently and professionally in performances and auditions is what sets Kim's students apart.

I love seeing that look on my students' face when after months and months of trying, they finally get a breakthrough and all we have been working on finally 'clicks' in their head. The "I can really do this!" look on their faces is priceless. Gets me every time . . .

I have many years of classical training as a vocalist, with a collegiate concentration in music education and performance, that prepared me to sing all genres of music. I have my own band of blues and jazz musicians and have performed all over the US, Mexico and France. I was a finalist on Season 2 of NBC's "The Voice" and am a recording session singer on the hit show "Sons of Anarchy", "Bastard Executioner" and "American Grit." I have been teaching since age 20 and have guided hundreds of students into vocal careers, and helped vastly improved the technique of those who want to sing for their own enjoyment.

About the lesson

We start by identifying the student's goals and favorite artists. From there we determine a course of action to achieve those goals in the form of breathing techniques, warmups and vocalises. We finally apply those technical aspects to the song or songs of the student's choice.

Details

My rate is $130 per hour for all students. A one-hour lesson is recommended weekly for all students 12 and above.

For those students under the age of 12, a half-hour to 45-minute lesson is recommended. 30 minute lessons are $65.00 and 45 minute lessons are $98.00.

I do not do packages or monthly pricing. Lessons are billed at a 'per-lesson' rate.
