About Laura

I have taught acrylic and oil painting for many years. I have taught large groups, small groups, and individuals. I have taught all ages from very young to very old. I have all the equipment necessary for my students. And last but not least, my price is reasonable.

When I was a child my grandmother taught me how to paint in oils. I've been painting ever since, but now I do acrylic as well. I love to paint, and I love to teach. Its the best when my students successfully develop their creativity. My daughter and I started "Art in the Afternoon" a few years ago in order to do paint parties, which are tremendous fun. I belong to Cheshire Art League and Thriving Christian Artists.

I started teaching my 2 daughters when they were very young. As my grandchildren came along, I taught them too! All 8 of them! Then came "Art In The Afternoon", where I have taught small and large classes to basically beginners.

Except for my grandmother's instruction, and a few specialized classes, I am basically self taught

About the lesson

I provide all equipment necessary, canvases, paint, brushes, easel, for my students to use. We select an image to use as a reference. Then I teach the beginner how to approach the painting from beginning to end. I give instruction for color mixing, blending and various techniques necessary to complete the project. For a more advanced student, I will teach more challenging subject matter and demonstrate more advanced techniques.

I have worked with very young to very old. I have taught beginners to more advanced artists
