I understand what it feels like to struggle with being over weight. I fell into an all too common cycle that happens to people. I also was challenegdwith chronic knee and low back pain for almost twenty years.
It was the right fitness program and the right coaching that changed my life. I was able to release 30 lbs of body fat and find relief from my pain and I have dedicated my life to helping others do the same. It begins with having the right mindset. Your body will go where your mind takes it, so get your brain wired for success and the rest is just tasks.
I went through a mini life-crisis and found myself in failing health. I decided that I no longer wanted to be or feel this way and once and for all took full responsibility for my bad habits. The outcome surprised even me, and I set out to help other people do the same. I have a powerful message that comes out of my own mess!
With a degree in Secondary Education, I taught high school which gave me a foundational understanding of how to convey information in the form of lessons. I use this approach to help people grow from their current state to their desired state of health. I believe that a great trainer teaches their clients what they need to know so that they can take over and manage their health and fitness on their own.

The fitness assessment lays the foundation of the work that follows. In addition to a physical movement screen, I gather information about the client's past experiences and medical history. Together we sit down and establish clear and realistic goals.
Over the last twenty years, all types. But the best fit for me now is Gen Xers and Baby Boomers. I can relate to them, their lives, and how challenging it can be to make the time for living a healthy life. Where do you start? It can be quite overwhelming.
Ask a lot of questions! Find out what their specialty is and ask to speak to a couple of their clients, especially those who have had similar challenges. Don't get roped into a long term contract! Life can turn on a dime and you want to make sure you have an exit strategy if needed. Don't work with a personal trainer unless you are 100% committed to changing your health. No one is going to take you by the hand and do the work for you. You have to show up in your own life every day, so make every day great.
I helped a 75-year-old client who had not played gold in over five years get back on the golf course and enjoy this game he loves so much. It took six months of diligence to get his body to be more mobile and stable. We also worked on flexibility, balance, and strength. I didn't know he went to play golf until he came into my studio on a Monday morning and hugged me. He thanked me over and over again and said, Larry, you changed my life." I was pretty overwhelmed too. All I could say was, " Thank you, but you have changed my life too!”
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Am I committed to seeing this through?
Do I have a budget for personal training?
Who can help me with support and encouragement?

I've been working out with Larry at Body Basics for about 4 months twice a week and every day people tell me how great I'm looking! Not only is the hard work showing in the physical but my strength, endurance, and knowledge is improved as well. The thing I love most about training with Larry is how knowledgable he is about the science behind fitness. Every session we have he puts in the time to make sure I understand what I'm doing and why as well. He really emphasizes the importance of a strong foundation and good form so you don't get injured. He also is very adaptable with schedules and minor injuries so we never miss a workout. I highly highly recommend him to anyone looking to get healthier, improve their strength and movement, etc.
I started training with Larry from Body Basics in April of 2015. For the past 7 years I have been suffering with lower back issues and pains from an injury I received working out on my own in 2008. In 2012 I had surgery and over the course of 2.5 years, struggled with weight gain, and not being motivated to get back into shape.
One conversation with Larry changed all that and now almost 3 months later I am down almost 25 pounds and have lost inches all over my body. I train with Larry 3 times a week and he has gotten me on a very controlled diet. I have never felt more confident about the way I look and feel.
He uses his knowledge of how the body works and your past experiences and creates a work-out that will truly help you achieve your goals. If it wasn't for Larry and Body Basics, I wouldn't be where I am today!!!
So here I am, three months behind me working with Larry. At 74, I was a slouching old man with constant aches and pains. My gait was so bad, both my mother(96) and wife kept telling me to straighten up. I found it very difficult to straighten up.
Through Larry's guidance, I now find myself standing tall (most of the time). I have learned exercises that have strengthened my core and back muscles, and now allow me to stand tall and straight. I still need to think about it to keep straight, but I can do it. Eventually it will be automatic.
I have been surprised by three different people telling me this past month that I look good. I can only surmise it is because I'm standing tall. Hopefully, I can continue on my own to maintain what I have gained from Larry. But I did schedule a return visit next month to make sure I was still doing the exercises correctly. I'm still an old man, but I don't feel like one.
It has been an absolute pleasure working with you, Marc. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be your coach. I’m thrilled to see you moving and feeling better. And just as important, you now have the knowledge and skills so that you can continue to make progress on your own.
Onward and upward!

Larry is an amazing trainer as well as a great person. He pushes me harder towards my goals and expects a lot from me which keeps me motivated and goal oriented. The difference between a session working with Larry and one on my own is amazing. I could never have gotten such great results so quickly without his help.Larry is an awesome strength and movement trainer! I started training with Larry to build muscle to help me improve my ability with my dogs in agility competition. That meant getting stronger. I also wanted to improve my movements on the agility course. In ten months, I’ve gained 4 pounds of muscle as measured by the InBody Test at my doctor’s office! I’m running much better on the agility course and I feel stronger and more stable in daily life. I value Larry’s experience, dedication to continual learning, and enthusiasm for helping people meet their goals. He emphasizes education during training and that shared knowledge builds confidence. I’ve learned that you have to lift heavy things to get strong…and now I can do it! Thanks, Larry!
Thank you Larry for giving me the tools necessary to reach my goals. As an avid 67 year old golfer who looks forward to his golfing weekends, I'm starting to feel stronger and confident having worked with you over the last 12 weeks. I strongly believe the mobility, stability, balance, and isolated strength programs you instilled in me will not only help my golf game, but beyond that, my entire quality of life. Following your program allows me take control of my body and realize the benefits, rather then my body controlling me and limiting how I live my life. Eliminating the daily aches and pains. Wow! I not only look forward to this golf year, but years to come, knowing that I have done something positive, that will keep me enjoying the game, and doing the things most important to me.
I wanted to send you a note of gratitude for your invaluable training during the past 6 months.
As you know I came to you approximately 6 months after I received major surgery. Given the magnitude of that surgery, I was very fearful about damaging my abdomen in the course of exercise. But you listened to my concerns and designed a series of strength and conditioning exercises that helped strengthen that area as well as provide a well- rounded routine for my entire body.
You taught me a tremendous amount about how our bodies function and about the interplay of muscle groups. In fact, your program addressed many muscle groups that I had ignored for many years. I now have the knowledge to correctly perform a full range of exercises that I can use for the rest of my life.
At 60 years old I feel as limber as I did fifteen years earlier. It’s now a year since my surgery and in the past 6 months, I’ve participated in the following activities: golf, hiking, kayaking, and high performance driving with no compromises in performance.
On an everyday basis I have the strength and energy to quickly climb stairs (sometimes two at a time) and go about all the activities of my life better than I had before my surgery. Thanks again for all you’ve done and I look forward to seeing you soon for some refresher sessions.
I sought out fitness expert Larry Wasserman for help in correcting my posture. Well past my 70’s, I noticed that I had developed kyphosis (rounded back/shoulders) and neck forward posture. After evaluating my posture, Larry gave me exercises to improve my condition.
We made use of much of the varied equipment in his well-equipped studio, including foam rollers, suspension trainer, bands, dumbbells, kettlebells, and others.
He also devised a home program and taught me how to manage the process on my own.
Larry is a delight to work with, and all in all, the program which he tailored for me was quite effective, as well as being enjoyable, and I am seeing a noticeable difference in my posture. I can recommend Larry as your personal trainer, without reservation.
