About Malinda
Shooting news has enabled me to hone skills in a wide variety of photographic situations, under short deadlines. Simplifying those techniques for everyday folks, I’m able to help anyone impliment pro techniques in simple ways, even beginners who haven't ventured beyond AUTO.
I LOVE making photography & camera tricks understandable for the person I'm working with. People learn in different ways. Teaching for the past 7 years, I'm able to better relate to each person at their level and help them learn easy tricks for jaw-dropping results!

I started teaching classes when I was working at the newspaper to help others capture pro-quality photos in a simple, straight-forward, step by step way. I felt too many other instructors were making it WAY harder than it needed to be and not teaching people how to USE THEIR camera!

Most folks reserve 2 lessons, getting started with the 1st, then coming back 1-2 weeks later with questions and learning more - this is perfect for spreading out all the tips I share.
We have an indoor studio as well as outdoor area here, plus a 2000 acre park less than a mile away - both are great places to learn Photography!
I also teach workshops & classes at various locations, and lead photo walks for the park district.
Teens, college students, stay at home moms, grandparents, professionals, aspiring pros, globetrotters, sports lovers, a very wide variety!
Pay attention to their style and how "complex" they make things. Do they relate to your experience and how you understand things? Or do they just talk above your head and expect you to understand all the tech terms?
Too many to list. Teaching classes and private lessons is my "full-time job" and I wouldn't have it any other way!
I also volunteer for The Dragonfly Foundation and a few other nonprofits, both training and photography.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Tell your instructor where you're starting - in detail. Talk about what frustrates you, whether you like math or not, share as much information about you as possible to give your instructor a path to help you get to the next level.
