About Rob

I've been a professional photographer and videographer for over 20 years. I've shot national TV commercials, shows and a few movies.

I've shot portraits for musicians, actors, and everyone in between. I love to create lighting that shapes the image and draws in the viewer, connecting her with my subject.

I've taught at Belmont University, Watkins Film School, the Nashville Film Institute, and I've led many workshops teaching photography and video.

Rob

I graduated from NYU Film School and I've spent my life since as a professional in film and photography. I bring all of that to my teaching.

I've taught photography at Belmont U., Nossi Sch of the Arts, NFI, and Watkins Film School.

I was credited with bringing a new and effective weay of teaching to Nossi that was implemented through the school by the Dean of Academics.

About the lesson

I first want to undestand the student's grasp of photography when we meet. How much do you know now? Do you have some work to share and discuss?

Then I want to know if you have a goal for yourself in photography so I can better help you achieve it. Portraits, editorial, fashion, pets, sports, travel -- all of the above?

Then we discuss a lesson plan to help you get there -- and get started! I am a believer in hands-on learning. We'll be shooting in the first lesson.

I've worked mostly with college age students, but last year I gave a workshop in lighting for the ASMP, average age about 50. They had a longer attention span :)!

Look at their work. Is it what you'd like to be able to do? then choose that person!

I ran a workshop for the ASMP, teaching lighting techniques for portraits. the students had a great time and loved it. I loved sharing some of what I have learned over 40 years of working with others who want to learn.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Look at a LOT of photography. Read about the business on the web -- the info is all there. Find out all you can about what you want to become involved with so that when you do come for lessons, you are not wasting your time -- you are focused.

I charge by the hour, including any travel time I incur. Lessons are an houor long, with a 10 minute break, not included in the charged time.
