About David

iPhoneography 101 - After a lifetime of creating art , photography, film and video, I now teach students how to create professional media using an iPhone and an iPad. The world of media making has been distilled into devices made of slivers of metal and glass, capable of amazing things.

I have been creating Fine Art Photography and Video Art since the mid seventies, working in multiple mediums. My artwork has been show in exhibitions worldwide and is included in many corporate collections. I authored “Mobile Digital Art: Using the iPhone and iPad as Creative Tools” Focal Press, 2013 and in 2015, operated the gallery, Mobile Digital Art & More in Boonton NJ, for two years showing and teaching classes in Mobile Art.

Personal instruction will allow each student to progress at their own speed, zeroing in on their own visual passions and finding their own creative zone.

Making Art is like breathing, effortless and unconscious, part of my being. I am my own biggest fan and can always manage to please myself, but teaching, reaching another human being on a very deep artistic level, brings a kind of satisfaction hard to measure.

I learned Photoshop version 1.0 in 1991 and then taught dozens of people who started later than I did.

I was involved in the Mobile Art movement the day Apple’s App Store opened in 2008, so again, began instructing artists who followed.

A large part of my Art galleries business was education, with classes in iPhoneography.

Worked in the Motion Picture industry 1976-2017, Camera Dept., Video Dept. / Commercials, Feature films, Episodic TV

Showed in Art galleries, museum shows, corporate collections for 40 years.

Taught Photoshop privately for 20 years and iPhonography since 2010.

About the lesson

First to find out what the student hopes to gain from the experience and then create an outline for the student defining concrete lessons that will support and aid in their goals.

Second is to expand the zone around the stated goals to widen the students perspective and multiply their opportunities.

Young and old, established photographers and amateurs.

Anyone passionate about making art is enough.

Lectured to the Southern Oregon’s Photographic Association about iPhoneography.

A recent film of mine was screened at SOU Meese auditorium as part of “Eye Candy” Surreal/ Psychedelic Film festival.

$33/hour with a first session 3 hour minimum.

That’s enough time to get a student started, then 1 hour additional lessons at $33/ hour to advance specific topics of interest at the student’s request.
