About Sierra

I started teaching as an assistant piano instructor in high school for my church Arts Institute Program, an outreach ministry to train young musicians. I also began vocal coaching during my years as an elementary choral director.

I have a Bachelors degree in Music Business from Middle Tennessee State University. I hold a teaching certificate of All Level Music (grades K-12) in the state of Texas. I also hold a Level 1 and 2 Orff Shulwerck teaching certificate from Southern Methodist University. I am a classically trained pianist and vocalist and has studied music since the age of 5.

About the lesson

Initially I do an assessment to see what the student knows and where they are and analyze their individual style of learning.Students who have previous knowledge of piano or come from another instructor will play for me and also bring their method books and music so that I can give a fair assessment as to where they are musically.

I have generally worked with beginning and intermediate school age students.

Always make sure that the teacher can adapt to your learning style. All students do not learn the same, and a cookie cutter approach will most definitely stifle growth and the student’s ability to reach his or her full potential musically.

I'm always fond of anytime I see my students perform. It makes me so proud to see their progression and how far they've come as musicians.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. Why am I choosing to take music lessons?

2. What do I want to achieve with music lessons?

3. Am I committed to practicing and studying my music on my own at home?
