About
Teaching piano is not a business, but rather a passion and mission for me. As classical concert pianist with international credentials as performer, university professor, coach and also audio producer/engineer of classical music, I like to share my expertise with serious, advanced students who want to go beyond the initial phase of dealing with an instrument, learning scores and memorizing pieces to perform. I want to inspire them to discover the expressive possibilities of music, the "story line" of the composer's works and to enjoy music, studying and performing music as a satisfying activity, not as a vehicle to earn competition awards or to have to practice to receive stickers and praise from a teacher or parent.
This sophisticated - sometimes challenging - approach is not for everyone. My past university and private students enjoyed my attitude to let them discover themselves as musicians and pianist. Depending on their abilities and level of advancement, I coach students appropriately: choosing repertoire which they can handle, and guiding them towards "Piano Playing" instead of "Piano Struggling": in other words, teaching a technique (approach to the piano) which is musical and relaxed, not mechanical or forced.
