About Ankur

Ankur Mukhopadhyay was born in Erie, Pennsylvania in 2002, and began playing the piano at the age of five when he moved to Brea, California.

He attends the University of Southern California where he currently studies with Kevin Fitz-Gerald, a professor at the USC Thornton School of Music. His previous mentors include Stella Kotova and Leonid Levitsky, a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory.

Ankur has given numerous performances including the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall and many venues in Los Angeles County. He participated in music festivals such as Festival de l'Académie de Fourviére in Lyon, France, and the Peabody Piano Week Festival hosted by the Peabody Institute of Music.

Ankur won many CAPMT and MTAC piano competitions. He also won major competitive competitions such as the FOWGS Young Artists Competition, American Protégé International Concerto Competition, New West Symphony Quick Bowman Piano Competition, and many more. In 2017, he was awarded Artist of the Year and Rising Talents of the Americas by the GCC Series. He became a semifinalist at International Keyboard Odyssiad & Festival.

I love performing for people. I feel like the way I perform something helps create some sort of impact to the listeners, which is comforting to me

I just started teaching at a music school in Laguna Hills in January 2022, so I still have much to experience and learn.

I am currently a 3rd-year undergrad at USC doing my BM in Piano Performance. I have been playing the piano since I was 5 years old.

About the lesson

I try to understand what excites them the most about learning the instrument or music in general. That way, I am able to create a plan of what the student can learn.

I mostly worked with middle schoolers and high schoolers from the USC Thornton Engagement Community Program, but I am always willing to work with anyone!
