I purchased several Hammond lessons from Carey. I first heard him play when he was touring with the Tedeschi Trucks Band and subsequently in several clubs in the LA area. I was in awe of his technique and overall chops. I learned he offered lessons and purchased 4. I was both excited and intimidated about taking a lesson. As a kid I had music teachers that performed well but did not have the qualities that I believe make for good teachers. I was pleasantly pleased that Carey’s abilities as a performer matched his great qualities as a teacher. I would recommend him without reservations.

I’m post 50, first time taking piano lessons or any musical instrument. Carey Is focused and patient and keeps it light and fun. Baby steps for sure but only three lessons and I’ve learned a ton. Thrilled to take on something new with a great teacher.

Carey is not only a great musician is his own right, he's also a fantastic teacher who clearly works hard to craft each lesson to the individual needs of his students. As a professional vocalist aiming to become a more proficient instrumental player, I have so appreciated his help in filling in gaps in my knowledge and how he designs each lesson to take on challenges specific to my musical journey. Carey makes his students feel very comfortable regardless of their level. I've never been afraid to ask a "stupid" question or to go over something one more time. He's a blast to work with; patient and encouraging with a deep knowledge of his craft that I'm so glad to have access to.

After receiving a gift of piano lessons for Mother's Day, I began lessons with Carey. He is a very talented, creative, patient teacher. In fact, over the summer, he will also be teaching my eight year old granddaughter, Carli. (I have heard he is an awesome ukulele teacher too)! I would highly recommend him as a teacher!

I took a lesson with Carey to expand my left-hand vocabulary on the ukulele. I was looking for applicable tricks when moving around the neck, through different chord voicings. I recommend taking a lesson with this dude. He adapts to what the learner wants and helps fill in any conceptual gaps.

We got setup with Carey for piano lessons with my 7 year old son on Zoom and I have been very impressed with the quality of lessons provided and how well my son has progressed. I have always know Carey as an excellent player and discovered that he has an amazing gift as a teacher...particularly for kids. He breaks things down very clearly and easily, and finds what the student is interested and inspired by. I would recommend him as an instructor for all levels and ages.

As an adult student, I came into my lessons with a patchwork of music experiences, but without a deep knowledge of music theory, or any idea of how to improve my playing. In our first lesson, Carey was quickly able to determine what I know, what I want to learn, and what I need to get there. He's done a great job at balancing learning new songs and techniques, while blending in those musical building blocks that I'm eager to delve into. Carey's lessons are positive, customized to the student's needs, and a lot of fun!

One of the things I love about Carey is his musicality and his experience. As a studio guy and a touring musician, he knows how to cut through the noise and go right to what is most important. He is the most efficient teacher I have ever had. He has a quick eye for technical problems and has a great way of teaching the chordal and melodic vocabulary necessary to play with expression and freedom. Trust me...this guy has chops and knows how to teach them to you !

Carey Frank has the patience and efficiency as a teacher, as well the range of artistic expression as a performer that only come with the years of evident professional experience. If you want to make some serious progress with your own personal goals, enjoy the time spent, and maybe pet his cats, he's your guy!

I play music around town, but it'd been almost 20 years (!) since I'd taken a lesson and I was so glad I started up again with Carey. It's such a thrill to get to pick up knowledge and skills from him about so many aspects of playing keyboards - arranging songs, crafting solos, rebuilding fundamentals in a way that isn't just rote but actually helps build musicality. As others have said, his patience and ability to break things down simply means he'd be a great instructor for all folks with any level of experience, even those just starting out.

My seven year old is loving lessens and really excelling! Carey is super patient and gives him exercises that are challenging but appropriate for his age. When he can master them it really builds his confidence. Would absolutely recommend!

I guess I would consider myself as a semi-pro as I gig and get paid for it. I have been playing keys for over 55 years and at this point find it hard to get a teacher who can help me "get to the next level." Carey's experience, knowledge and encouragement are just what he needed. He gave me a framework and a discipline to improve my technique, provided the insight to improve my improvisation skills and helped me with fundamentals of jazz theory that was sorely lacking. He was always there with the kind words to keep me going, even when I was the harshest judge of my own playing. I am glad I finally found someone who can help this "Old Dog" learn some new tricks.

My only regret is not getting lessons from Carey sooner. For years I've known that I needed to go back and brush up on my fundamentals, and I knew that I needed the right teacher to take this step. From my first lesson, Carey did a wonderful job of listening and suggesting different things to work on based on where I was at with my playing. All of his concepts and lessons felt 100% focused on me, not some broad overview that he used for everybody. Aside from having chops for days and being a great teacher, he's also a real cool guy. He's very unassuming and just wants to help people get better at music. But I think my favorite thing about Carey's lessons was that he gave me a bunch of stuff to work on for in between lessons. As a musician with a day job, it was extremely helpful to have some concepts to work through on my on time in addition to lessons.

Coming from a mostly self taught understanding of music you end up having some gaps. Sometimes its difficult to find a teacher that can adapt to that and know exactly what skills to focus on for immediate results. After much searching Im grateful to have found Carey, a gifted musician and patient teacher that is willing to answer questions and tailor the lessons based on where I am on my musical journey.

Trying to help a 40 year old learn a new instrument is a tough assignment, but Carey is nothing but patient and encouraging. In-between teaching me my favorite Disney & Beatles songs on Piano, Carey lets me pick his brain for pro-playing tips. I'm looking forward to my 2nd batch of 8 half-hour piano lessons and I am about to add some Ukulele for my 8 year old daughter!

I felt almost beyond help when I started taking ukulele lessons with Carey and had low expectations for myself. I hoped to learn 1 song, if I was lucky. With Carey's immense knowledge, versatility, and upbeat teaching style, I have far surpassed my goal and enjoy playing a nice repertoire of songs. Carey is an awesome teacher! I'm a total beginner to the organ, but he was super patient and presented the information in a way that I could really wrap my head around. And of course, it was a lot of fun too!
